01Design & dock
The RockDock Ultra is mission control: it empties the dustbin, washes the mop with hot water, dries it with heated air, refills the robot's tank, and dispenses solution. The price of that autonomy is real estate — roughly 17 inches of wall you'll never get back. The robot itself carries a camera, LiDAR turret, and a retractable side mop arm.
02Vacuuming performance
This is the strongest vacuum we've lane-tested: 97% on hard floor, 91% on mid-pile carpet, with 10,000 Pa and dual rubber rollers that shrugged off a week of pet hair. The mop lifts clear of carpet (or can be left at the dock entirely on vacuum-only runs), so carpet never gets the dreaded damp-pad drag.
03Mopping, navigation & app
The sonic pad scrubs at up to 4,000 vibrations a minute and cleared 7 of 12 dried stains in one pass — very good for a combo, shy of dedicated mops. The FlexiArm edge mop closes most of the baseboard gap. Navigation is essentially flawless: AI obstacle avoidance dodged cables and shoes in light and darkness, and Roborock's app remains the deepest in the business without feeling unmanageable.
04Who should buy it
Buy the S8 MaxV Ultra if you want the single best all-round floor robot and can stomach the price and dock footprint. If your home is small, mostly carpet, or mostly hard floor, a cheaper specialist above will get you 90% of the way for half the money.
